Our advocacy team is dedicated to advancing policies and initiatives that promote cultural appreciation, support Ukrainian and other Slavic refugees, and protect access to Slavic language programs in schools. From legislative outreach to community education, we believe in using civic engagement as a tool to elevate and protect Slavic voices.
Russian American Historical Context Statement
The Russian American Historic Context Statement is a comprehensive document that chronicles the rich history and lasting contributions of the Russian community in San Francisco. It highlights longtime Russian residential enclaves, Russian-owned businesses, properties linked to prominent Russian Americans and their descendants, and influential religious, social, and political organizations that have shaped the city’s Russian American heritage. The team at Slavic Voice was honored to testify in support of this important effort and is now working in collaboration with the San Francisco Planning Department to help advance and promote this recognition of the community’s cultural legacy.
Dream Ukraine is a campaign dedicated to supporting Ukrainian refugees and raising awareness about the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Since its founding, the organization has organized impactful fundraising events to provide essential aid, including food and medical supplies, to displaced families. Dream Ukraine has also coordinated large-scale food drives in the Bay Area, mobilizing volunteers and community support to assist refugees locally.
